Supervisory and Command Level

Tools for Tolerance® Supervising Line Staff:

One of the most influential groups of people in law enforcement are the first-line supervisors. They have a direct impact on the people they supervise, on how policies and procedures are perceived and applied, and, are often, the most visible and accessible leader in law enforcement/criminal justice professionals.

As new leaders, they have to evolve their relationships with individuals who used to be colleagues and forge strong relationships with the leaders above them. This offers a new and unique set of challenges first-line supervisors must overcome. This course assists first-line supervisors in gaining key leadership skills and how to infuse those skills into their new role.

Curriculum highlights:

  • Identifying challenges and building relationships with both subordinates and leadership.
  • Building character to improve effectiveness and the role of popularity in leadership.
  • Managing challenges and how to give effective feedback, positive or negative.
  • Practical application practice through role-play
