Tools for Tolerance® for Educators is an acclaimed interactive, experiential professional development program at the Museum of Tolerance designed to help California educators fulfill their potential both as people and professionals. Over 100,000 educators have successfully completed programs both virtually and on-site since 1996. These dynamic professional development programs provide customized workshops, facilitated dialogue, and teacher guide resources for creating inclusive and equitable schools and are designed to address the challenges facing educators today in K-12 and beyond. Programs are currently being offered in-person and virtually.

The Assistant Director must be an experienced education professional with a passion for anti-bias education and social justice, interested in advancing the Museum’s mission, maintaining the high standards of the program, and providing motivational leadership. The Assistant Director must possess excellent administrative and organizational skills, value attention to detail, and be adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The Assistant Director is responsible for the successful administration and implementation of all activities of the department and reports to the Director of the Museum of Tolerance.

DUTIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Plan and implement professional development programs and events using the assets of the MOT
  • Oversee administration of grants including budgets and reports
  • Outreach to our major partners such as the CDE and LACOE
  • Supervise staff and adjunct faculty, including workshop presenters and facilitators
  • Maintain relationships with our longtime consultants, presenters and facilitators (30+ppl)
  • Help recruit new adjunct faculty
  • Actively recruit participants and promote established programs across all California schools
  • Liaise with school partners to create customized, relevant programs for educators
  • Represent the MOT in educational forums, councils and committees
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation and maintain quality control
  • Stay abreast of the latest research in the field
  • Other job related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate by the Director of the Museum of Tolerance


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years educational leadership experience
  • Management experience is a must
  • Demonstrated experience with program design and development for professional training
  • Excellent presentation and dialogue facilitation skills
  • Meticulous administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, shows initiative, and has ability to problem solve
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • High degree of flexibility, can adapt easily to changing environment and tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite

40 hours/week, Monday-Friday (Sunday Programs as scheduled)
