About

Museum of Tolerance, International Documentary Association, CORE, and DoctoraStories invite you to a special screening.

With an introduction by a special guest, executive producer and Academy Award® winner Jane Fonda.

"Norita is a phenomenal documentary that paints such a vivid, heartfelt picture of Nora Cortiñas and her enduring fight for justice—a story that remains ever so strikingly relevant." –Ansh Dubey, FEATURE FIRST

Thousands of Argentinians vanished during the country's last and most brutal dictatorship. When Nora Cortiñas' son was taken, she led protests at Plaza de Mayo that would eventually help bring down the regime and inspire a new generation of women to fight for justice and freedom.

Norita is a journey through the history of the 1970s dictatorship in Argentina to the present day, as the so-called feminist "green wave" is expanding from Argentina to the world. The personal and family tragedy of “Norita,” a pioneer of human and social rights, forms the genesis of her unwavering determination and intrepid activism, which leads her to co-found the renowned Mothers of Plaza de Mayo resistance movement in 1977 and to emerge again and again on the political scene, including in 2018 as a central figure in Argentina’s movement to legalize abortion.

Join us for a Q&A with director Jayson McNamara, executive producer Bárbara Muschietti, and producer Sarah Schoellkopf, Ph.D., following the screening.

This event is offered free of charge. RSVP required. Register here.
