Maintenance Engineer

The Simon Wiesenthal Center & Museum of Tolerance is seeking an experienced maintenance engineer responsible for ensuring the proper operating conditions of our administrative offices and museum exhibits. Reporting to the Chief Engineer an ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive skill set in building maintenance, strong work ethic and outgoing personality.

Job Description:

  • Perform routine facility maintenance including repairs to HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems
  • Perform patching and painting as needed
  • Perform preventative maintenance of mechanical systems
  • Inventory parts, tools and supplies and prepare list of parts and supplies needed
  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned by Chief Engineer

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong technical skills in plumbing and electrical
  • Able to patch and paint as needed
  • Ability to read blueprints and wiring schematics preferred
  • Must be able to work independently, with little or no direction from the Chief Engineer; and maintain a high degree of productivity and accuracy
  • Must be able to perform maintenance duties that require bending, reaching, dexterous use of the limbs; standing and walking for longer periods of time; use of hand and power tools
  • Must have an understanding of OSHA rules and regulations
  • May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the building maintenance field
  • HVAC EPA 608 Universal or Type I and II certification preferred
  • Trade school, vocational school or apprenticeship classes an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License

Full Time; 40 hours/week (Sunday-Thursday)
