The Museum of Tolerance is seeking a digital marketing professional looking to join an innovative team of mission-driven individuals who thrive working in a fast-paced environment. He/she must possess excellent communication, administrative and organizational skills, value attention to detail, a “will-do” attitude; as well as being enthusiastic, personable and adept to managing multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.


The main responsibility of the Digital Marketing Coordinator is to develop, implement and manage MOT’s digital strategy including social media, email marketing and website content. The position will also be responsible for internal communication around MOT activities and events. Goals will include increasing the Museum’s presence on social media, and fostering community engagement around MOT’s mission and activities. This position reports to the Communications Director and works closely with both the Communications and Museum teams.

Social Media:

  • Social Media management of all channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Yelp, and other social networking mediums for the Museum of Tolerance
  • Work with all Museum departments to develop content for social media channels; manage and share content calendar
  • Social media community management – continue to build and foster relationships with followers across all platforms
  • Monitor content on all platforms and report/escalate concerning messages, mentions, posts, etc. per Media Security Escalation Protocol

Email Marketing:

  • Effectively manage the scheduling, strategy, and development of eblasts to the Museum constituency
  • Oversee data collection and be prepared to report on analytics


  • Format, uploading and general content management of the Museum of Tolerance website
  • Participate in selection of a new website designer and function as point of contact through development process

Administrative and General:

  • Develop internal communications protocols to keep staff apprised of museum activity
  • Work closely with the communications team to ideate and help produce platform-specific content aimed at driving tickets and memberships
  • Stay current with digital trends and advocate for implementation of best practices including emerging technologies
  • Ensure that all social media, email marketing and website content is vetted, reviewed, and approved in advance of deadlines
  • Act as a bridge between communications and museum teams
  • Other reasonable duties as required


  • A minimum of 2 year of relevant work experience (either agency or brand)
  • Are proficient in Social Media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) and best practices
  • Can work in a very busy museum environment with many demands while maintaining poise and professionalism
  • Possess a self-starting attitude, are ready to seize opportunities and make an impact without specific instruction
  • Have experience working with Blackbaud’s Luminate software, or with other HTML and with other website CMS platforms
  • Understand Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, and other analytics platforms, as well as Partner vendors (couponing, webinars, social monitoring providers, etc.)
  • Have excellent organizational and written communication skills, proofreading and editing skills
  • Have basic graphic design skills (i.e., PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.)
  • Appreciate and are enthusiastic about effective community engagement in a social justice framework
  • Are able to multi-task, handle requests from multiple sources and determine priorities as well as order of completion
  • Spot industry news and trends and share with the team
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related fields preferred but not required

  • 40 hours/week; Sunday – Thursday work schedule preferred; Monday – Friday + occasional Sundays possible; Evening events as required

    Salary range $50,000-$55,000; Generous benefits package including medical, dental, and life insurance.
