Bring your students to the Museum of Tolerance.
Thanks to generous support from the Leichtag Foundation, the MOT can award free tickets to San Diego schools during the 2014-2015 school year. Recommended for ages 12 and above, the 3 hour tour includes the Holocaust Exhibit which is a sound-and-light guided, seventy minute dramatic presentation that covers the period from the 1920s to 1945. Students are led back in time to become witnesses to events in Nazi-dominated Europe during World War II. Every student receives a photo passport card with the story of a child whose life was changed by the events of the Holocaust. Groups also experience interactive exhibits in the Tolerancenter such as the POV Diner and Millennium Machine which expose the dynamics of prejudice and discrimination historically and today. Major themes throughout the tour include the power of words and the role of the bystander.
Supporting the experience is a Teacher’s Guide with standards-aligned lessons and information.
