Museum of Tolerance Pop-Up

Space to Talk About Race

The Museum of Tolerance invites Los Angeles youth to participate in a Dialogue opportunity customized for all groups and across grade levels (middle school and up).

Following the unrest in Ferguson, MO, the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience launched a national initiative for museums to host dialogues on race, education, incarceration, and civil rights in their communities. The Museum of Tolerance is a member of this network and committed to supporting critical conversations that generate understanding and promote justice. While dialogue may not solve our problems it draws us closer in mutual understanding so that we can begin to solve them together. There are many kinds of dialogue experiences. This one is a solutions-oriented space where dialogue encourages taking action.

The format:
90 min. Facilitated Dialogue: Mindfulness, agreements, gallery walk, dialogue circle, commitments and gratitude 90 min. Arts based workshop: Reflection and envisioning conducted by Self Help Graphics
