Friends of the United Nations
Honoring Leadership and Excellence in promoting mutual respect for Diversity, Human Rights and Harmony amid difference
The letter from Dr. Noel Brown, President, reads:
“In taking this decision, our board was most impressed by the creation of this kind of facility which effectively gives fuller scope and meaning to the United Nations Declaration of Principles on Tolerance and providing an institutional framework for learning, experiencing, and reaffirming the values inherent in these principles. Through your Museum, you have extended a "standing invitation" to the general public to visit and reflect and more importantly to understand the significance of diversity and respect for differences in this globalized world of evermore intense human encounters and interactions.
Moreover in a world of increasing hatred and fear bred largely of intolerance, your Museum provides a head start in building culture of peace and tolerance to which the United Nations has dedicated the present decade and for which Leaders at the Millennium Summit have committed themselves. For these reasons we see your Museum as a partner with the Untied Nations in advancing this cause. Congratulations.”
