In commemoration of the 9th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the U.S. on September 11, the MOT honors those innocent victims who lost their lives. An exhibit of a quilt memorializing and honoring all the firefighters and emergency rescue personnel who died in the line of duty is on display in the lobby of the MOT, together with books of names of all the people who perished. MOT visitors are invited to view the updated exhibit on global terrorism in the Millennium Machine exhibit and the In Our Time exhibit, and vote their opinions on a related question in the polling station - all in the Tolerancenter.
In addition, the Library and Archives has a display of another memorial quilt, created by Maile Alday, The images on this quilt convey the feelings and emotions of U.S. citizens during and in the wake of this tragedy. Simon Wiesenthal Center Library and Archives #2005-070
On this solemn occasion, we also pay tribute to the courageous men and women of the US armed forces who are fighting for freedom and democracy around the world.
