The Museum of Tolerance's Martin Luther King Jr. Day program on Jan. 21st, 2009 was selected as an officially sanctioned program of the Presidential Inauguration Committee in response to President Elect Obama's call for a National Day of Community Service. The Museum of Tolerance hosted LA community members for special family activities and live performances of Living Voices’ Right To Dream. Ralphs Grocery Co. was a generous sponsor, helping to get the word out to the LA community.
Visitors were invited to bring non-perishable food items and receive $1 off the price of admission. Overall, 4,289 lbs. food was collected. The food was given to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank for distribution. |
