We Have a Dream

Family Sunday - Cesar Chavez Day

Sunday, March 29, 2010 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm

During MOT Family Sunday the Museum of Tolerance celebrated Cesar Chavez and Chicano Civil Rights.  Visitors enjoyed the Costume and Reading Room and watched Viva La Causa, a Southern Poverty Law Center film.  Visitors also listened to famous Chicano musicians such as Chavela Vargas, Quetzal, Los Lobos, Lila Downs, and various records and made Cesar Chavez-inspired bandannas.  Music provided by Amoeba Music.

Erica Bennett and students from Fullerton College presented an excerpt from the documentary, “Tales From a Golden State,” and used music and dramatic readings to demonstrate how the Mendez v. Westminster case inspired them.
