Youth Voices and Resistance

This module offers an opportunity to examine the Holocaust through the lens of the experiences of children. As its most tragic victims, Jewish youth were also critical chroniclers of events and resilient resisters. Led by Senior MOT Presenter Mark Katrikh, experience the "Bella Letter" activity which offers a poignant lens into the true story of the teenage secretary of the secret "Jewish Students Group" in Brussels, and her tragic fate. Gain unique access to select Museum archival treasures and resources from the Museum's Remember the Children collection.

In Holocaust education, students resonate especially with modules that examine the Holocaust through the lenses and voices of other children. As the Holocaust's most tragic victims, children were also resilient resisters. This 60 minute module led by a skilled MOT Youth Educator offers an interactive investigation of the precious artifact "The Bella Letter." More than a close reading, students will analyze for information and learn about the poignant true story of the secret teenage "Jewish Students Group" in Brussels, and Bella's tragic fate.
